Sheriff Oborevwori Biography and Educational Background
Sheriff Oborevwori was born on the 19th of June, 1963 in Osubi, Delta State to the family of Chief Samuel and Mrs. Esther Oborevwori. He had his early childhood education at Alegbo Primary School and his secondary education at Oghareki Grammar School, Oghareki. In 2004, he obtained a bachelor\’s degree in Political Science from the prestigious Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma. Subsequently, in 2010, he pursued a master\’s degree in Political Science from Delta State University, Abraka.
Oborevwori has also successfully completed the Leadership Executive Certificate Programme at the Alliance Manchester Business School of Manchester University. He also holds a certificate from the London School of Economics and Political Science for his participation in the Programme on Leading Inclusive Development.
Oborevwori is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). He is also a fellow of the Chartered Management Consultant Chartered Institute of Management Consultants, Canada, and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (FICMC).
Political Career
Sheriff Oborevwori began his political journey as a grassroots politician, initially serving as the Chairman of the Okpe Community. However, his prominence skyrocketed in 2015 when he secured his election as the member representing Okpe State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This achievement came after his dedicated service in various significant government roles, commencing as a Councillor in 1996.
On the 11th of May 2017, he assumed the position of Speaker in the Delta State House of Assembly, succeeding the impeached Speaker, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya. Following his triumph in the polls to represent the Okpe State Constituency, Sheriff Oborevwori was re-elected as Speaker for a second term in 2019.
Following the 2023 general elections which were held in February, Oborevwori emerged winner and was on 29th May, sworn in alongside his deputy, Monday Onyeme by the State Chief Judge, Justice Tessy Diai at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
