Dr Peter Mbah Biography and Educational Background
Peter Ndubuisi Mbah was born on the 17th of March, 1972 in Enugu to the family of Chief Gilbert Ekete Mbah. He hails from Ashishi Owo in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the State.
Mbah had his primary education at Army Children\’s School, Bori Camp, Portharcourt, after which he enrolled at Owode High School, Owode Egba Ogun State for his secondary. He thereafter, traveled to the United Kingdom, gaining admission to study at the University of East London, from where he earned a Bachelor of Laws in 2000. He was after that, called to bar upon his graduation from the Nigerian Law School.
Peter Mbah obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from IESE Business School at the University of Navarra in Barcelona, Spain. Additionally, he completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategy and Innovation at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was bestowed with an honorary doctorate degree in Political Science by Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu, Nigeria, in 2021.

Following his graduation, Dr. Peter Mbah engaged in the National Youth Service Corps and worked at Udeh and Associates law firm in Lagos. As an entrepreneur, he established Peter Mbah Investments Limited in 1992, a prominent service provider in the oil and gas sector.
Additionally, he founded GILPEL Industries Ltd., an importer of various commodities from 1993 to 1997. Notably, he also established FOCUS International Schools in Lagos state. Furthermore, Dr. Mbah serves as the exclusive agent of International Oil Corporation, a notable oil and gas company headquartered in Fresno, California, USA.
Demonstrating his leadership, he is the founder and CEO of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd. In 2021, his company recently completed the development of Single Point Monitoring (SPM), Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM), and storage facilities located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
Politics
In 2003, Dr. Peter Mbah assumed the position of Chief of Staff and later became the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in the administration of Governor Chimaroke Nnamani. During his tenure, he played a key role as a member of the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee and served on the Enugu State Executive Council and State Security Council.
Dr. Mbah also held several important positions, including Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Legal Matters for the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Enugu State Insurance Company, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Enugu State Finance and Investment Company, and Chairman of the Enugu State Tenders\’ Board.
He Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)\’s candidate for the Enugu state governorship in the 2023 general elections, following a primary election held in Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, where he secured a remarkable 790 votes out of 807 cast by the delegates. Consequently, Dr. Peter Mbah became the Governor-elect of Enugu state after emerging victorious in the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023.
He was sworn in as the fourth governor of Enugu State on the 29th of May, 2023.
Personal Life
Dr. Peter Mbah is happily married to Nkechinyere Mbah, and the union is blessed with four children. Mrs Mbah Nkechinyere is a philanthropist, and child health and sustainable nutrition enthusiast. She is a Non-Executive Director at Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited.
She is also one of the founders and facilitators of the Peter Mbah Foundation, a Charity Organisation focused on grass root empowerment and development for communities, women, and children.
