Maj. Gen. John O. Ochai is the 32nd Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna. He resumed duties on Monday, June 26, 2023 after Maj. Gen. Ibrahim M. Yusuf proceeded on his retirement from service.
Maj Gen. Ochai is a member of 39 Regular Course and a highly decorated officer of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps. Prior to this position, he has also gotten appointments including Director of Operations, Army Headquarters, and Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armoured School, Bauchi, among others.
The Idoma-born Major General is a brother to the late Group Capt Adamu Gabriel Ochai, a senior pilot and officer with the Nigeria Airforce who tragically lost his life when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Air Beetle Aircraft crashed in Kaduna State while on a mission.
He is originally from Adum Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area and is the son of Chief David Ochai, the clan head of the community.
