Dunsin Oyekan Biography and Early Life
Dunsin Oyekan was born on November 5, 1984, in Ilorin, Nigeria, to the family of Gbadebo Oyekan, the General Overseer of the Evangelical Baptist Church. He was the only son of his parents and grew up in a Christian home. He developed a passion for music and songwriting from a young age, influenced by his father who also loved music and led a music group called “Spiritual Singers”.
He started playing the guitar at age 10, encouraged by his father who taught him the basics. He also learned to play other musical instruments such as the keyboard and the drums. He attended Airforce Nursery and Primary School Ilorin, Federal Government College Ilorin, and Baptist Model High School Ilorin. He then proceeded to study Industrial Chemistry at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Dunsin Oyekan’s career as a gospel artist began in 2014, when he received a divine call from God to fully dedicate his life to the worship ministry². He had been singing and playing in choirs and bands for over two decades, serving as a music director and a backup vocalist for many notable gospel singers. He was the music director of the Crystal Award-winning choir, The Avalanche of COZA (Commonwealth of Zion Assembly), for many years.
He released his debut album, Code Red, in 2016, which featured 14 tracks of soul-lifting and spirit-filled songs. Dunsin Oyekan is a devoted family man. He was married to his beloved wife, Adedoyin Oyekan, from February 2, 2013, until the Lord called her to glory on May 18, 2019. They were blessed with two lovely children, a boy and a girl. He has been able to cope with the loss of his wife with the help of God and the support of his family and friends. He has also dedicated some of his songs to her memory, such as “Fragrance to Fire” and “At All Cost”.
