Best DJ In Nigeria: Top 10 DJs To Watch Out For In 2023

In this article, we\’d be seeing the top Nigerian disc jockeys (DJs) to watch out for in 2023.

Music, no doubt, should be added as one of the primary human needs, especially for the African man. When we\’re happy, we play songs, when we\’re sad, we also play songs. In the church, in the school, in the market, in offices, and in virtually everything we do, we find a way of squeezing music into our daily lives.

This explains why Nigeria’s media and entertainment industry is one of the fastest-growing creative industries in the world, according to PwC Global Entertainment and Media Outlook. According to the information, in 2021, Nigeria’s film industry contributed 2.3% and about 239 billion naira ($660 million) while the motion picture and music recording industry contributed about 730 billion naira ($1.8 billion) to the country’s GDP.

Nigeria\’s music industry wouldn\’t be where it is today if not for the contributions of the DJs, producers, promoters and of course, the artistes themselves.

The music industry has created a solid relationship with the DJs, and in most cases, they get to know about artists\’ new releases before they release them to the market. They get to say which songs would be liked by the audience and which ones would have no audience reactions.

Until recently, most Nigerian DJs have worked behind the scenes, helping artists without having to sing behind the microphone themselves. If you check the major record labels, from MAVIN to DMW and others, you\’d notice that they all have in-house DJs.
