Okawa Shaznay was born on May 5, 1986, in Bamenda, Northwest region, Cameroon. She began her secondary school education in Presbyterian Secondary School Mankon, Bamenda, Cameroon. Shaznay later moved to the United States, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Southern University.
Entertainment Career
Okawa Shaznay is one who always had passion right from the onset. She took an interest in performing arts while being part of stage plays and little film projects in her hometown in Cameroon. As time went by she became accustomed to the Nollywood movies after watching the classic 90’s Nigerian soap operas such as Scores to Settle, Living in Bondage, and Glamour Girls.
She came through professionally with her first role in the movie “Master DJ” which was produced in Cameroon by Sarabi Pictures in 2004. She later moved to Houston in the U.S. where she joined the All Africa Theater group. She returned to Africa and was featured in her first big-screen role, Cheaters, as directed by Frank Rajah Arase. Furthermore, she starred in her first movie in Nigeria in 2014 in a hit blockbuster film titled “Iyore,” which was released in cinemas in 2015, starring opposite Nollywood superstars Rita Dominic and Joseph Benjamin.
