One of the most confusing things about phone numbers in Nigeria today is how to easily tag a number that belongs to a particular network. Sometimes ago, it\’s very easy to say this number is Mtn, that one is Glo and that is that and so on.

It was easy then because the first four numbers were easy tags to each telecommunication’s signature. But with the rise in the increase in the number of users, network providers have been forced to create different unusual numbers for their sim cards.
It’s now difficult to know at a glance which number belongs to a particular network. So, let me teach you the easy ways to be able to identify numbers that belong to a different network.

Ways To Know Numbers That Belong to A Network Provider

Currently, we have at least four major network providers in Nigeria, they are, Mtn, Glo, 9mobile and Airtel. One thing is certain, no network has same prefix.
Which means that the first four numbers help to give a signature to a specific network.
Most site online doesn’t support Nigerian numbers when you place them for identification. But the one and sure way to identify the network of a number is by knowing their prefix.

MTN

As at today, Mtn has 13 unique numbers. They are, 0803, 0806, 0813, 0810, 0816, 0814, 0903, 0906, 0703, 0704, 0706, 07025, 07026.
Note, the last two are five numbers, which means that the first four numbers can reappear in another network.

0805, 0807, 0811, 0815, 0705, 0905.

AIRTEL

0802, 0808, 0812, 0708, 0701, 0902, 0901, 0907.

If you are able to know the prefix of these networks, it won’t be hard to identify them.
