Rt. Hon. Ehie Ogerenye Edison MHA, the current Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, hails from the Ekpeye ethnic community in Rivers State, Nigeria. He was born in Port Harcourt to the family of the Late Chief Clinton Dollars Ehie and Mrs. Salome Ehie.

Edison’s educational journey began with his primary education at the UPE Primary School. He continued his academic pursuits at Western Ahoada County High School in Ahoada Town. Subsequently, he pursued higher education, earning a degree in Law from the Rivers State University (formerly Rivers State University of Science and Technology). This came following the crisis that rocked the assembly, on Monday (October 30), over the move by some of the lawmakers to impeach the governor of the state, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison got married to his loving wife, Pharm. Cynthia Edison (nee Obuzor) in 2019. The wedding, which was the talk of the town took place in Rivers State Ecumenical Christian Unity Centre, Abhonema Wholf Road, Rumuwoji, Port Harcourt. while the reception was held in Presidential Hotel, New GRA, Port Harcourt.
The couple welcomed their first child in 2020.
