Elon Musk Donates $5.7b Worth Of Tesla Shares To Unnamed Charity

Billionaire CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk has broken a record on global donations. The 50-year old South African born entrepreneur is currently estimated to be worth $238.6 billion and made the donation between November 19th and November 29th last year.

Based on the prices of Tesla stocks on the day the donations were made, they were estimated to be worth over $5.7 billion making it one of the biggest donations by an individual.
The donation occurred even as the SpaceX founder faced struggles with Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders over inequality of taxes and a potential wealth levy.

During the same period David Beasley, the director of the United Nations’ food programme had stated that billionaires like Elon Musk have acquired much wealth without caring for world hunger.
Elon had replied by saying that he will sell his Tesla stocks if the UN can prove that they will help end world hunger.
The recipient of the donation however is not known and the trust involved in the transaction is not known as well.

The billionaire was liable to pay taxes worth over $10 billion last year and donating to charity would be a wise decision.
He has also been making donations to various charity projects through The Musk Foundation which he launched in 2002.
