JAMB Increases 2024 UTME Registration Fees, Announces Date For Registeration

According to Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the registration fee for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been increased from N4,800 to N6,200. This increase was announced by JAMB on its official Twitter handle.

The new registration fee is expected to take effect from January 10, 2024, and will apply to all candidates who wish to sit for the UTME in 2024. The board also announced that the registration period for the 2024 UTME will commence on January 10, 2024, and end on February 21, 2024.

The increase in the registration fee has been met with mixed reactions from the public. While some have expressed their displeasure with the hike, others have argued that it is necessary to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. The board has defended the increase, stating that it is aimed at improving the quality of the examination and ensuring that it is conducted in a secure and transparent manner .

It is important to note that the UTME is a prerequisite for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The examination is conducted annually by JAMB and is taken by thousands of candidates across the country. The increase in the registration fee is expected to generate more revenue for the board and help it to improve the quality of the examination.
